Fall Trend Predictions

Updated: Oct 5, 2022

I may or may not be predicting this weeks Trend predictions for my own wishful thinking but here we go anyway. Three Words, Jane Brikin Basket but not any Birkin bag THE Birkin bag. If you know anything about French chic you’ve seen a version of the basket bag somewhere at some point.

As an amateur entering the world of fashion talk I’ve learned most of my knowledge from watching Alexa Chung videos. She is one of my top style icons and I think she is hilariously charming. She is a huge fan of Jane Birkin and her legacy and passed that beautiful knowledge to any fan who engages with her content. The Birkin Basket is so classic and such inspiration to many bags, especially now for that trendy wicker look everyone is obsessed with. Speaking of my girl Alexa, you can see the basket is something she references frequently in her everyday look that she post to the grid. I’ve attached some reference photos below to show just how she indulges!

If we’re talking Chung then we might as well move to another “it” girl Jeanne Damas. She is known for her French look so much that she has created her own clothing brand from this aesthetic. I did some research and have decided not to include the name and link due to its sustainability rating being “not good enough” on Good on you scale. I can link that rating research here. But as far as Jeanne fashion principals and timeless look she gives a handful of basket bag references and that’s why we’re truly all here!

My newest found inspo is Louise Verneuil. She categorizes herself as a performance artist which is dead on with her background as a singer/song writer but I’d argue and say she is also a fashion inspiration whether she thinks or not. Her grid is stacked with film photography, lounge wear chic and old art references. Her range of color and topics is what drew my eye in and I’m sure many of her 73k other followers. If she’s vintage she must reference the basket bag and that she does.

So I thought the best way to bring this weeks trend prediction to a conclusion was linking you to some really great Etsy Sellers mastering this trend beautifully.

My first Etsy find was The Jolie Market, its a 100% Eco-Friendly Handmade home goods and bags. It is ran out of California. They have raving reviews and many options to pick from and they have there own personal website as well linked through their Etsy account!

Next Etsy shop is AlbaATN ran out of Portugal and main mission is Reduce Reuse and Recycle! AlbaATN offers many things such as basket hand bags, accessories and home goods meeting all of your boho basket needs. They also offer a very close look-a-like to the Jane Birkin Basket that is their number one best seller!

Last shop that I stumbled upon was DesignDua, who is a Pennsylvania based company and has a five star rating! They are 100% handmade and family run by women which is so incredibly empowering! DesignDua has won awards from HGTV and has been featured in many different retail stores. They create anything from home goods, to accessories and even offer dog beds and bassinets.

So with all of this new information on Birkin Baskets and Wicker, I think we should all take a good look at our wardrobe and add a basket bag because we all need one. They go with everything and scream original boho like no other.

Follow up next week for the next brand predictions and send me request and dm for whatever you want to see or read next!
